Dumb, but needed question to ask on Encapping

I was wondering: When I start to use my beige pad on my commercial carpet...After I pre spray the carpet, do I need to spray the pad with the pre spray also, or use my pad dry on the carpet that was pre sprayed.

It seems that the pad would have better agitation if it was dry, but I'd be worried that it would overheat.

So pros, what do you do? I know there's a rule to this.
